I've finally ended my 2007 dry spell; I've finished a project! Behold the luscious High Five Scarf, in all it's 9 foot glory.
That's right. I knitted a scarf that is almost twice as tall as me. My goal was simple: I wanted to be able to wrap it several times around my face and neck with enough tail left over so I don't feel like I'm choking. Mission accomplished.
After about two weeks of research and hours knitting and frogging, I knit this guy up in about three hours. As B pointed out, I spent more time figuring out what I was going to make than I did actually making it. I'd never used this kind of wool before, so I didn't mind spending time getting to know it.
The final product is super snuggly. If I ever had the patience, it would make an excellent throw for the sofa. It also has this yummy woolly fiber smell. Even though I love the final product, I have to say that it wasn't the easiest to knit with. I knit continental style, so I "pick" instead of "throw" as they say. However, I found myself having to throw in order to maintain natural yarn tension. Otherwise, it got stuck in my fingers. Even still, it obviously didn't slow me down all that much.
Three hours! Whoop!
Yarn: 3 skeins Colinette Point Five, Morocco colorway
Base Pattern: Windsong Lacy Scarf from YarnMarket.com
Pattern Mods: Cast on 11 stitches using US17 needles
# of projects on needles: 2, # of projects recently frogged: 2, # of projects on deck: 16

Your scarf turned out beautifully! I'm impressed that you owned up to the 16 projects on deck. That kind of confession would probably be good for my soul.

Wow, I love Point 5 so so much...my friend just finished a sweater in it and claims that it makes her look like a Sta-puff marshmallow!

Thanks ladies!
Valerie: Check out today's post to see what I'm working on. *evil grin*
Heather: I was talking to my mom last night who was marveling over yarn as thick as her thumb and what could you possibly make with it. I've seen the Point 5 sweater patterns and i'm not sure I could overcome the marshmallow look either. My money would be on an afghan but who's got time for that? Do they make croquet hooks that big?
